Privacy Policy
Privacy and responsible data use
Mindful Diabetes Inc. operates this site for educational purposes. JEIR is a digital educational support tool, not a clinical service. Please avoid sharing information you do not want processed by the systems needed to operate the site.
Effective date and privacy contact
Effective date: August 4, 2026. Privacy matters may be sent to privacy@mindfuldiabetes.org.
Information you provide
You may provide information when you create an account, contact the organization, subscribe to email updates, or submit messages to JEIR. This may include your name, email address, account details, and the content of messages you choose to submit.
Health-related information and JEIR prompts
JEIR is an educational tool. If you voluntarily type health-related details, prompts, or conversation content, that information may be processed to generate a response and may be handled by the systems needed to operate JEIR. Avoid entering information you do not want processed, especially highly sensitive personal, medical, financial, or emergency information.
Account information and authentication
The site uses Kinde for authentication. Kinde may process account identifiers, login method information, and related security data according to its own terms and privacy practices. Account information may also be stored as needed to support access control and related account features.
Newsletter and email updates
The codebase includes Mailchimp integration for syncing account-created users to an email audience when configured. Mailchimp may process email address, name fields, subscription status, and tags needed to manage educational communications. Non-essential email messages should include an unsubscribe method.
JEIR and AI processing
JEIR uses the OpenAI API through the site's configured server endpoint to generate educational responses. AI-generated content can be incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated and is not a medical review. User-submitted prompts are processed to produce the response and to operate the service.
Hosting, analytics, and measurement
The site includes Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights for site measurement and performance information. The root layout also includes a Google tag configured with an AW- identifier, which is associated with Google Ads measurement rather than a GA4 property ID. These services may collect technical and usage information such as pages visited, device or browser data, approximate location inferred from IP address, referral information, and interaction events.
Database storage
The application uses Prisma with the configured database provider. Account-related records, operational records, and information needed for site features may be stored in that database when those features are active. This policy does not publish internal database URLs or credentials.
Donations and PayPal
Donation links send visitors to PayPal, a third-party payment processor. PayPal may collect payment, billing, tax, contact, device, fraud-prevention, and transaction information according to PayPal's own privacy practices. Mindful Diabetes Inc. does not process card numbers directly through this website.
Cookies and local storage
The website may use cookies or similar technologies for authentication, security, preferences, analytics, and measurement. The theme setting is stored locally in the browser so visitors can keep their light or dark mode preference.
Why information is processed
Information may be processed to operate the website, provide JEIR responses, maintain account access, send requested communications, improve educational resources, monitor abuse or misuse, support security, and comply with applicable obligations.
Retention, access, correction, and deletion
Information is retained only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, unless a longer period is required for security, legal, operational, or recordkeeping reasons. To request access, correction, or deletion, contact privacy@mindfuldiabetes.org.
Children's privacy
This website is intended for general educational use and is not designed as a children's service. If you believe a child has submitted personal information inappropriately, contact the organization so the request can be reviewed.
International access
If you use the website from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other jurisdictions where service providers operate. The organization does not make country-specific legal compliance claims on this page.
Security limitations
Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards may be used to protect information, but no website, database, AI service, email provider, payment processor, or online service can guarantee absolute security. Do not use this site to store information that would create serious harm if exposed.
External links
This website links to third-party sites, including PayPal, YouTube, Candid/GuideStar, and the related MindfulDiabetes.org education site. Third-party sites may have their own privacy practices and terms.
Policy updates
This policy may be updated as the website, programs, or data practices evolve. Material changes should be reflected by updating the effective date at the top of this page.
